2009-10 NAIA All-Americans
SIOUX CITY, Iowa—For the second straight season the Concordia women’s basketball team placed an individual on the NAIA All-America list, as junior
Danielle Clauson was named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American on Tuesday.
Clauson, a 5-foot-10 forward from Edmonds, Wash., finished fourth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference by scoring 16.6 points per game en route to being named a first-team All-CCC performer. She topped the league in field goal percentage by hitting .494 percent of her attempts.
Clauson, the CCC Newcomer of the Year as a freshman, also finished inside the top 10 in the league leaders in rebounding (8th, 6.0 rpg); assists (7th, 3.00) and minutes played (7th, 30.59 mpg). Clauson led the team in points, rebounds and assists while finishing second in steals and blocks.
“It’s a great honor for Danielle especially as a junior,” CU head coach
Aaron Christian said. “We know it’s been a goal of hers, and although it might not be as far as she would liked she has another year to go. She has made a huge impact on the program with her abilities and we look forward to seeing what she can accomplish as a senior.”
Concordia finished the season with a 13-16 overall record. The Cavaliers earned a trip to the CCC Tournament for the sixth straight season, falling to the top-seeded Yotes of The College of Idaho in the opening round of the tourney.
Clauson is the second player under Christian to be recognized by the NAIA as senior Rebecca Gimeno was named a third-team All-American last season.
