KANSAS CITY, Mo.— Three meets into the indoor season, the Concordia University track and field teams have already combined for 23 top-20 performances on the
NAIA Indoor Performance List.
Overall, the men’s team combined for 15 top-20 performances, including nine top-10 marks, while the women’s team tallied eight top-20 marks with seven falling inside the top 10.
Leading the way, distance runners Alice Taylor and Martin Romero-Clark hold down the nation’s No. 1 ranking in their respective event. Taylor, a sophomore from Auckland, New Zealand, currently owns the top time in the women’s 3,000-meter run with a 10:06.32 as well as the No.2 time in the 5,000 with a 17:12.19.
Romero-Clark enjoys a top ranking in three events with the top in the 1,000 with a 2:28.65, the No. 7 time in the mile with a 4:16.32 and the NAIA’s No. 18 time in the 3,000 with an 8:40.79.
Fellow harrier, Eric Burk also is represented in three events with the No. 3 spot in the men’s 3,000 with an 8:26.43, the No. 4 spot in the 5,000 with a 14:51.89 and the No. 15 spot in the mile with a 4:19.37.
Burck and Romero-Clark were also a member of the school’s 3,200-meter relay team which came in ranked No. 4 in the NAIA with a 7:51.14.
Three Cavaliers hold the second position on the NAIA performance lists with Cordero Cisneros earning the No. 2 ranking in the men’s 1,000 (2:29.44), Seth Cordell in the men’s pole vault (16-1 3/4) and Katherine Tripp in the women’s shot put (45-1 1/2).
In addition, third-ranked performances from the CU women’s team included Lauren Moran in the 3,000 (10:11.75) and Gabrielle Dixson in the weight throw (54-7 1/4).
