OLYMPIA, Wash.—Danielle Clauson tallied a game-high 22 points and 12 rebounds while teammate
Mariah Ladd added 12 points and 10 boards as Concordia defeated Evergreen State 71-59 to sweep the season series against the Geoducks.
With the win, Concordia improved to 12-14 overall and 6-10 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference while Evergreen State fell to 9-18 overall and 5-11 in league play. With two games to play, Concordia holds a one-game advantage plus the head-to-head tiebreak over Evergreen for the eighth and final playoff spot into the CCC Tournament.
Shooting 47.8 percent in the first half while holding the Geoducks to 34.4 percent shooting through the first 20 minutes, Concordia managed a five-point lead at the break with the score 35-30. The Cavs would extend its by holding Evergreen to just a 30 percent field goal rate in the second en route to the 12-point win.
Clauson converted 7-of-15 attempts from the floor and 8-of-10 of her free throw attempts for her seventh 20-point performance of the season. Ladd hit 4-of-8 from the field as well as from the charity stripe for her 12 points while
Rachel Scarpelli added 14 points with the aid of 7-of-8 conversions from the free throw line.
Evergreen State was led by Alex Sabb who finished with 15 points and was followed by eight points from Katie Garcin and seven each from Latrina Woods and Chelsey Nill.
Concordia outrebounded the Geoducks 45-37, but turned the ball over on 20 occasions compared to 16 for the home side.
The Cavaliers return to action on February 19 when it hosts Oregon Tech at 5:30 p.m.
