In his 14th season at the helm of the Cavaliers, Brad Barbarick’s tenure which has seen CU basketball become a regionally and nationally recognized intercollegiate program. Since taking over as head coach in 1994, Barbarick has steadily transformed the Cavs into one of the top programs in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.

Among his accomplishments are 11 consecutive appearances in the Cascade Conference postseason tournament and a pair of conference championships in 2000 and 2003. The 2000 squad finished with a 24-8 record and advanced to the “Sweet 16� at the NAIA Division II National Tournament.

Barbarick’s 202 victories in his first 13 seasons are a Concordia career record. The Cavaliers have had 19 All-Conference players, 3 NAIA All-Americans, and 6 NAIA Academic All-Americans during Barbarick’s tenure.

Brad’s ministerial approach to his job has also been a key to Concordia’s consistent basketball success. The Barbarick family lives just two blocks from the CU campus, and is actively involved in both campus life and the Cavalier athletic department. Brad has been married 17 years to the former Dana Sims, and they are parents of three children: twin daughters Emily and Megan (12), and son Zachary (8).

Barbarick is a graduate of Santa Ynez High School in Santa Ynez, California, and received his bachelor’s degree from Columbia Christian College in Portland. He added a master’s degree in secondary education, with an emphasis in exercise and sport science, from Western Oregon State College (now University) and Oregon State University.

Brad began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Columbia Christian in the 1988 season, then served as an assistant at Mt. Hood Community College, Western Oregon and Concordia before taking the CU head coaching position.

Brad is the founder, owner, and director of the Rip City Hoop Camp, one of the most popular summer camps in the region, which completed its 16th year in the summer of 2006. He has also served as the director, or as a staff member, at camps run by John Wooden, Pat Riley, Don Nelson, George Karl, Mike Dunleavy, Jim Harrick, A.C. Green, and at the Superstar Invitational Basketball Camp.
