Entering his ninth year at Concordia, Head Coach Rob Vance has high expectations for this year's club. "We brought in a number of new players to improve certain areas of our team, and I think we've done that," says Vance. "We want to be in the conference and title chase every year, and we needed to get better in some areas."
Vance was an assistant coach for two years at Concordia before taking the interim job in 1999. Prior to Concordia, he taught Physical Education and Health at Estacada High School for nine years. While at Estacada, Coach Vance was the head baseball coach for six years and the head football coach for four years. In 1996, Vance was named Tri-Valley Coach of the Year for baseball. While at Estacada, Vance also coached JV Boys Basketball and Freshman Girls Basketball.
Vance is a 1987 graduate of Pacific University with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and minors in Health and Coaching. While at Pacific, he played football and baseball. In baseball, Vance was a two-time All-Conference infielder. After completing his playing career at Pacific, he was an assistant coach from 1987 through 1990. In 1994, Vance completed his Master's Degree in Exercise and Sports Science at Portland State University. In addition to teaching in the department, Coach Vance is the chair of the Health and Physical Education department at Concordia and resides in Portland with his wife of seventeen years, Diane.
